The purpose of the Symposium was to educate stakeholders in adult criminal courts about restorative justice and how to utilize restorative justice practices within their disciplines, and also plan for how judicial circuits can implement restorative practices. During the morning plenary session, experts in the field, both academics and practitioners, presented papers on restorative justice in adult courts. The Honorable Janine Geske, a former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice and Director of the Restorative Justice Initiative at Marquette Law School then gave the keynote address. Thereafter, Diane Kyser presented on the basics of restorative justice by one of the foremost practitioners and theorists in the state. In the afternoon, there were workshops to educate practitioners about how they might be able to utilize restorative justice by discipline. And, the during the late afternoon session, all those in attendance from the same circuit participated in a brainstorming session to develop a plan for how they will implement restorative justice practices within their jurisdictions.
