The booming prison industry has caused many agencies, practitioners, academics, and citizens to rethink current justice policy and to consider restorative justice practices and philosophies. The Missouri Restorative Justice Coalition is one such group. Members of the coalition include administrators in criminal and juvenile justice agencies, court personnel (adult and juvenile), state employees, private practitioners, and many more. In the spring of 2008, the Coalition distributed a survey to restorative justice stakeholders. The purpose of this survey was to assess the opinions of current and potential coalition members concerning the future activities of the coalition, their levels of involvement, and provide a starting point for discussions regarding the coalition’s future. An electronic survey was distributed to nearly 1,000 stakeholders selected by the coalition. About 80 individuals completed the surveys, and results from each survey question are presented. Overall, respondents indicate moderate support for future coalition involvement, favor non-profit status, and acquisition of grant funding. Conclusions for next steps are presented, including a need for a restorative justice-based mission statement, common coalition-sponsored activities, and a centralized administrative structure in the survey report MRJC Survey (4).doc
