Missouri Restorative Justice Coalition

Introduction

The Missouri Restorative Justice Coalition is a group of stakeholders interested in promoting Restorative Justice in the state of Missouri.  The group was formed to assist with the implementation of the Missouri Restorative Justice Initiative in March of 2005.  This Initiative was sponsored by the Center for Women in Transition, a nonprofit organization that works with women in the criminal justice system to assist them in making a transition back into their families and into society.  The Coalition has now become an independent nonprofit entity in order to insure continuity and sustainability of its work.

The Mission of the Missouri Restorative Justice Coalition is:  To create safe and peaceful communities for all Missourians by promoting the understanding and use of restorative justice principles and practices.

The goals of the new Coalition entity are:

1.  To increase awareness, understanding of and support among Missourians, for the benefits that Restorative Justice Principles & Practices offer to victims, offenders, and the community.

2.  To advocate, create opportunities for and be a resource for Restorative Justice Programs and Projects in Missouri.
